How much experience do I need?

None at all! This course is designed for complete beginners or anyone who wants to feel more confident with DIY. If you’ve never picked up a drill before, or done any DIY, this course is for you. If you’ve tried doing some DIY, and lost confidece, because things didn’t go to plan, this course is also for you. We’re all about building your confidence and getting you started on your DIY Journey

Is this course suitable for women?

Definitely. bePractical DIY specialises in empowering women to tackle home projects with confidence. However, we encourage anyone to sign up to our DIY courses, regardless of gender. We provide a safe space for anyone to learn hands-on practical skills

How many people are in each Nailing it! class?

Classes are kept small, with a maximum of 5 people. That means you get plenty of one‑to‑one support, time to ask questions, and space to practise using tools without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.

What should I bring?

We recommend wearing old clothing, and sturdy shoes. In the colder months, we suggest that these are warm, or layered. It can get cold in the Workshop.

If you have long hair, we strongly recommend that, for your own safety,  you keep it tied up while you are using any power tools. 

If you would like to bring your own PPE (Personal Protectve Equipment), please feel free to do so. We will provide PPE, but we know that some people would prefer to use their own. (We recommend that you mark them up with your names, so that you can identify them)

Do I need to buy any tools or materials before attending?

Nope! All tools and materials (including jigsaws mitre saws & coping saws) are provided. Just bring yourself and a willingness to learn.

What if I’m nervous or have never used a drill before?

That’s exactly why this course exists! We take it step by step, and you’ll have plenty of time to practise.

How do I book, and where are you based?

You can book online at bePractical DIY. We’re based in Bristol, with small group classes for lots of personal attention.

Will I get any notes or support after the course?

Yes. After the course you’ll receive follow‑up notes to download, so you don’t have to remember everything on the day. You can also contact us by email, WhatsApp or phone if you get stuck on a DIY project at home and need a bit of extra guidance.

How much does the Nailing it! Course cost?

The cost for this half-day Nailing it! Course is £80. The price includes use of all tools and materials. We also provide Tea, Coffee & Biscuits. Please feel free to bring any of your own refreshments

Which Course should I do next after Nailing it?

DIY “Next Steps” follows naturally on from our Nailing it Course. In DIY Next Steps, you will much more drilling practice, and use this to move on to fixing things to walls, so that they stay there and are level – Exciting stuff!

Can I do TWO Courses on the Same Day?

Yes. That’s no problem. We run courses that follow on from each other on the same, so that you can.

We offer a £20 Discount when you book TWO Courses at the same time. 

We guarantee that the days will be fun and empowering, but they may also be tiring. Remember you will be learning lots of new information and skills, and so may find the day tiring. Please bear that in mind.
