FAQs

Can I lay a wooden floor myself if I’ve never done DIY before?

Absolutely. This beginners flooring workshop is designed especially for people who have little or no DIY experience. You’ll learn every step, from choosing materials to measuring, cutting and fitting flooring, and you’ll get plenty of hands-on practice using tools like a jigsaw and mitre saw safely.

What’s the difference between engineered wood and laminate flooring?

Engineered wood flooring is made from layers of real wood, while laminate flooring is a composite material with a photographic wood-effect surface. On this course we look at both options, so you can decide which type of wooden or laminate floor is right for your home and your budget.

Do I need to buy any tools or materials before attending?

No. All tools and demo flooring are provided for the course, including jigsaws, mitre saws and hand saws. Just bring yourself and a willingness to learn. If you’d like to bring your own tools to try out, you’re welcome to do so.

Will I be able to cut flooring around corners and awkward spaces?

Yes. You’ll get practical tips and hands-on practice cutting around pipes, door frames and other awkward spaces. We’ll show you how to use jigsaws, mitre saws and scribing tools to get a neat, professional-looking finish.
