Feeling overwhelmed by all the things you need to know and understand? It can be a real shock suddenly discovering that there are so many new things that you need to know and understand. We’re here to support you so you can enjoy your new home with confidence!

Our New Home Survival 1 Course is all about empowering you to feel capable and in control when looking after your home. This hands-on, half-day workshop is designed for new homeowners or renters. No experience needed, just some curiosity and enthusiasm to learn!

How much experience do I need?

None at all. Our Home Survival Courses are designed for complete beginners, new Homeowners and new Renters

Is this course suitable for women?

Definitely. bePractical DIY specialises in empowering women to tackle home projects with confidence. However, anyone is welcome on this DIY plumbing course, regardless of gender. We provide a relaxed, supportive space to learn hands-on practical skills.

What should I bring?

If you have your house survey, or EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report), or any other documentation for your new home, which you need a hand understanding, please feel free to bring it along with you.

Wear old clothing and sturdy shoes. In colder months, we recommend warm or layered clothing as the workshop can get chilly. If you have long hair, please tie it back when using any tools. We provide PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), but you’re welcome to bring your own if you prefer. Just label it with your name.

Do I need to buy any tools or materials before attending?

No. All tools and materials are provided for Home Confidence 1. Just bring yourself and a willingness to learn.

How do I book, and where are you based?

You can book online via our bePractical DIY Booking Page. We’re based in Brislington, Bristol, with small group classes so you get plenty of personal attention.

How much do Home Survival Courses cost?

Our Home Survival Courses are half-day, in-person courses and cost £80 per person.
The price includes use of all tools and materials, plus tea, coffee and biscuits.
If you book two half-day courses at the same time, you’ll get £20 off the full price.

Which Course should I do next after Home Survival

Any of our other DIY Courses will be suitable. We’re hoping that thsi course will really whet your appetitie for getting sdtuck into DIY. 
You may even want to book us in for a DIY Assist Session in your new Home, to help you get started. 

Can I do TWO Courses on the Same Day?

Yes. You can book two half-day courses on the same day, such as both Home Survival Courses. We run them back to back for anyone who wants to cover everything on the same day.

We offer a £20 discount when you book two courses at the same time.
It’s a fun and empowering day, but it can be tiring because you’ll be learning lots of new information and skills.

What if i have a question after the course?

We offer ongoing support by email, WhatsApp or phone. We know it helps to have someone to ask when you’re doing DIY plumbing at home. We also send comprehensive follow-up notes so you don’t have to write everything down on the day. There’s no such thing as a daft question here.

Can I buy this DIY Course as a gift?

Absolutely. It’s a great gift for someone who wants to feel more confident looking after their home. Gift vouchers are available for this DIY plumbing course.
